Advanced Diagnostics

Digital Oral Health Scans

At Well Being Dentistry, our approach to advanced diagnostics begins with comprehensive digital oral health scans performed on every new patient, with updated records captured annually. These scans allow us to build a detailed, evolving digital model of your oral health over time, supporting a more precise, proactive, and preventive approach to dentistry.

We pride ourselves on clinical excellence and financial transparency. Our team works tirelessly to help you navigate your benefits and find a payment solution that fits your budget.

Our digital scan system also includes a timelapse feature, which allows both clinicians and patients to visualize changes over time in a clear and intuitive way. This longitudinal view provides a powerful perspective on how teeth, bite relationships, and overall oral health evolve, reinforcing the importance of consistent monitoring and maintenance care.

In addition, our scanning technology can simulate clear aligner therapy outcomes, offering a visual preview of potential treatment pathways. This helps patients better understand how orthodontic changes may improve alignment, function, and overall balance before treatment even begins.

We also utilize near-infrared imaging technology as part of our diagnostic process. This allows us to identify areas of concern such as early caries development without the use of radiation, supporting a more conservative and preventive approach to care while enhancing diagnostic accuracy.

We encourage patients to actively engage with their digital scans, zooming in and exploring their images to better understand their oral health in detail. This interactive experience helps patients become more informed participants in their care, fostering greater awareness and collaboration in treatment decisions.

Ultimately, digital oral health scans are an invaluable tool in our practice. They allow us to continuously monitor changes, track treatment progress, and support long-term oral health stability through a more precise, data-driven, and patient-centered approach to dentistry.

CBCT Imaging: 3D Diagnostic Precision in Dentistry

At Well Being Dentistry, we utilize Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging as a key part of our advanced diagnostic and treatment-planning process. This technology provides highly detailed three-dimensional views of the teeth, jaws, airway, and surrounding structures, allowing for a level of anatomical evaluation that is not possible with traditional two-dimensional X-rays. Cone Beam Computed Tomography

We use the i-CAT FLX V17, an advanced 3D imaging system that generates high-resolution, interactive models of a patient’s oral and facial structures, supporting precise and comprehensive diagnostics.

CBCT imaging is essential in planning dental implants, orthodontic cases, and ALF therapy. It allows us to evaluate bone structure, tooth position, eruption patterns, and craniofacial relationships with exceptional accuracy. This 3D insight supports more individualized treatment planning and improved functional and structural outcomes.

It is also invaluable for identifying hidden dental pathology, such as non-vital teeth or silent chronic infections, as well as for evaluating airway anatomy and TMJ structures. In some cases, CBCT imaging is also used in preparation for tooth extractions or root canal treatment, where detailed visualization of root anatomy and surrounding structures helps improve safety, precision, and predictability. This helps us better understand functional balance, breathing considerations, and joint health.

In many cases, we also request a professional radiology report, where a specialist radiologist reviews the scan and provides a detailed written analysis. This additional layer of interpretation helps ensure nothing is overlooked and further supports diagnostic accuracy and comprehensive treatment planning.

Overall, CBCT imaging allows us to diagnose with greater precision, plan with greater confidence, and approach care from a more complete view of oral and facial health.

Take-Home Sleep Testing: Convenient At-Home Airway Evaluation

At Well Being Dentistry, we recognize the important connection between sleep quality, airway health, and overall systemic wellness.

For many patients, in-clinic sleep studies may feel inconvenient or difficult to complete, which is why we offer a simple and accessible at-home alternative.

We use the WatchPAT ONE system, an FDA-cleared home sleep apnea test designed to evaluate sleep-disordered breathing from the comfort of your own bed. Instead of traditional lab studies with extensive wiring, it uses a simple, unobtrusive three-point contact system.

The device is worn overnight like a wristwatch, with a small finger sensor and a lightweight chest patch. It uses Peripheral Arterial Tonometry (PAT) technology to detect changes in blood flow at the fingertip, helping identify breathing interruptions and autonomic nervous system responses during sleep.

It also measures oxygen levels, heart rate, snoring intensity, body position, and sleep stages. Unlike simpler monitors, it estimates true sleep time, which helps produce a more accurate Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) and clearer insight into overall sleep quality and sleep architecture.

The data is automatically uploaded and analyzed using advanced algorithms, and a detailed report is generated by a board-certified sleep physician. Key metrics include the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), Respiratory Disturbance Index (RDI), and oxygen desaturation levels, which help quantify breathing interruptions and oxygen changes throughout the night.

This information is then shared with our team for review in the context of your oral and airway health.

Together, we use these results to better understand sleep quality, identify any underlying concerns, and determine appropriate next steps. This may include further medical evaluation, airway-focused dental treatment, or collaborative care with sleep medicine providers.

Our goal is to make sleep assessment as simple, comfortable, and informative as possible so we can better support both airway health and long-term overall wellbeing.

Salivary Diagnostics: Insight Into Oral and Whole-Body Health

Salivary diagnostics represent one of the most accessible and valuable tools we have for understanding the relationship between oral health and overall systemic health. The mouth is a key gateway to the body, and research continues to show that imbalances in oral bacteria and inflammation can contribute to broader health concerns over time. By identifying and managing these changes early, we can help support long-term oral and overall well-being.

Salivary diagnostics have been used in dentistry and medicine for many years and continue to evolve as an important, non-invasive way to better understand a patient’s health. At Well Being Dentistry, we believe salivary testing should be a routine part of comprehensive patient screening, as it provides meaningful insight into both oral conditions and systemic risk factors.

Saliva testing is simple, completely non-invasive, and easy for patients to complete. It allows us to gather biological information without discomfort or radiation, supporting a more preventive and personalized approach to care.

At Well Being Dentistry, we use multiple salivary tests depending on your individual needs and clinical presentation, any of which can be completed quickly in-office or conveniently at home.

We use the Oral Genome, a simple in-office swab test that provides fast, chairside results that are then emailed directly to you.

Oral Genome evaluates six core salivary biomarkers that reflect bacterial activity, inflammation, and metabolic balance in the oral environment. These include:

We also use the Simply Perio, a simple chairside test that involves swishing a solution and spitting into a collection tube. The sample is then sent to an outside laboratory for detailed analysis, with results typically available within a few weeks. Once completed, findings are reviewed together with the patient either in person or virtually, allowing for clear explanation and personalized discussion of next steps.

This test is especially helpful for patients experiencing unexplained gum bleeding, persistent bad breath, or an unusual taste in the mouth. In some cases, even with consistent and thorough home care, certain harmful bacteria can persist despite routine cleanings and standard over-the-counter products. In these situations, more targeted protocols and specialized therapeutic products may be needed to help restore a healthier balance within the oral microbiome.

Together, these tests give us a more complete picture of the oral microbiome and inflammatory environment.

Based on results, treatment may involve targeted periodontal therapy to address bacterial imbalance, further investigation for hidden sources of infection such as undiagnosed tooth pathology, or evaluation of airway-related factors that may be contributing to chronic inflammation and microbial disruption in the mouth.

Ultimately, this information allows us to create more personalized, biologically driven treatment plans aimed at restoring balance in the mouth. After all, the mouth is the gateway to the rest of the body, and supporting oral health plays a key role in supporting overall health and well-being.

AI-Assisted Radiography: Enhanced Diagnostic Precision

At Well Being Dentistry, we incorporate advanced AI-assisted radiography to support more accurate and comprehensive dental diagnosis. This technology enhances our ability to identify subtle changes that may not always be visible to the human eye on traditional radiographs.

We use Pearl Second Opinion, an advanced artificial intelligence tool designed to assist in the interpretation of dental X-rays. It acts as a second set of analytical “eyes,” helping to highlight areas of concern and support clinical decision-making.

Pearl Second Opinion can help detect early-stage dental caries, identify periapical lesions associated with infection or inflammation at the root of a tooth, and recognize areas of calculus (tartar) buildup that may require further periodontal evaluation. By enhancing diagnostic sensitivity, it helps ensure that subtle or early changes are not overlooked.

This technology does not replace clinical judgment, but rather supports it—providing an additional layer of confidence and consistency in radiographic evaluation. When combined with clinical examination and other diagnostic tools, AI-assisted imaging contributes to earlier detection, more precise treatment planning, and improved long-term oral health outcomes.

Comprehensive Medical History & Lifestyle Review

At Well Being Dentistry, we believe that exceptional care begins with a thorough understanding of each patient’s overall health. We take time to review both your medical and dental history in detail, as these factors often play an important role in oral health, healing, and long-term treatment outcomes.

At every visit, we also take and monitor your blood pressure as part of our commitment to whole-person care and safe, individualized treatment planning.

We go one step further than simply looking inside the mouth for signs of disease. Our goal is to understand the underlying causes and connections between oral findings and overall systemic health.

In addition, we spend time discussing your diet, daily habits, and oral hygiene routine in depth. These lifestyle factors can have a significant impact on gum health, inflammation, cavity risk, and overall oral stability.

By taking a comprehensive and thoughtful approach, we are better able to identify potential contributing factors to any oral or systemic health concerns. This allows us to make more informed recommendations and support each patient with a truly personalized plan of care.
